The Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Keystone College in La Plume, PA invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidate must be a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania (or license eligible). We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual who will contribute to the College’s teaching, program development, research, and service missions. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator to impact our unique student population and to shape the future of our programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teach graduate and potentially undergraduate courses in psychology and counseling theories, consistent with the applicant’s areas of expertise and the department’s curricular needs.
  2. Conduct and publish high-quality, original research in counseling psychology and related fields, with a focus on at least one of the following areas: rural mental health and/or the practice of counseling with culturally diverse populations.
  3. Supervise student research projects at both the graduate and undergraduate level.
  4. Engage in service activities such as committee participation, program development, and community engagement.
  5. Contribute to the development and improvement of the department’s curriculum and programs.
  6. Mentor students and provide advising on academic and career-related matters.
  7. Actively participate in departmental meetings, Faculty Senate (with committee involvement), faculty development opportunities, and other departmental activities.
  8. Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the college.
  9. Participate in regional and national professional organizations in counseling.
  10. Provide clinical supervision to graduate students.

 

About our ideal candidate

Qualifications:

  1. Doctoral degree in Counseling/Counselor Education, or related field, from an CACREP-accredited program.
  2. Candidate must be licensed, or license-eligible, as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania
  3. Demonstrated ability to teach a diverse range of courses within psychology and counseling fields.
  4. Proven track record of research in one or more of the following areas: rural mental health, community counseling, counseling diverse populations, sports psychology, and/or health psychology.
  5. Strong commitment to mentorship, student success, and fostering an inclusive learning environment.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and the broader local community.
